Months of preparation and prayer are beginning to take realization as our mission team leaves for Belmopan, Belize (http://belizex.com/belmopan.htm) on Saturday, November 22nd, 2008. Our team comprised of 14 males and 6 females has been meeting periodically for several months to pray for God's leadership and guidance as well as to prepare for the trip. This trip is the realization of years of prayer and careful consideration by the ACTS Around The World Team at East Lake Community Church. We have partnered with "Short-Term Evangelical Missions" (Stem International: http://www.stemintl.org/) to offer assistance on our initial venture.
We have been so blessed as many of you have been purposeful and diligent in your prayers for this mission trip to Belize. Please don't forget to check the lobby of the church if you feel led to donate an item or gift to provide to the people of Belize, as we are each carrying our second piece of luggage as a donation bag for the people to whom we will be meeting.
There are several prayers we ask you to stop and offer up to our Heavenly Father before, during, and after this mission trip. Please pray that our team will be a cohesive group that will model the love and compassion of Jesus not only with those we meet in Belize, but also with each other on the team. Please pray for the safety in our travel to and from Belize. Please pray that God will prepare the hearts of those in the orphanage, the prison, and the community where we will be working and ministering that they might be receptive to the message of Jesus Christ's salvation. Please pray for clarity for some of our church leaders that are traveling with us so that we can make a determination if this location is where God would like to have East Lake form a partnership for the coming years. Please pray that God will show you how else you can be a part of this trip, as it is as important for those at church to be engaged in prayer as it is for those of us actually going on the trip.
Our meetings have gone well, and we have enjoyed getting to know all of those involved in the trip. We have a wide range of age groups and a broad spectrum of personalities and talents that God has brought together for this trip. Below is a listing of those going so that you can pray for each of the members by name. Thank you in advance for your steadfastness in your prayers. The team members are:
Chuck Bingham
Judy Brazell
Sereta Muse
Dan King
Amy Long
Lee Long
Barry Russell
Beth Tuten
Taylor Winesett
Eric Ely
Richard Rice
Thomas Foster
Peter Sanders
Bubba Holland

I welcome the opportunity to offer a little insight into our trip and the preparation for our trip during the coming weeks. This will be our primary way of communicating while in Belize, so please check back often for updates and pictures. In addition, please post any comments below, as this is a church-wide mission trip, and your participation as a sender is vitally important. Signing off for now, but looking forward to the next post!

Know that your church family is praying for you and so excited to hear how God works in you and the others you serve in Belize and in your travels! Look for God sightings!!!
I have been thinking of you often since you left. Hope you got a good rest last night and that today has been profitable. We had great worship this morning, and Kevin's message was very helpful. Kevin mentioned you and your picture was on the screen. I want to hear about the foot bridge when you return. Take care.
I was glad to hear everyone got there safely. This will be a great week and I wish I was able to take part with you. Godspeed to you all and I am anxiously awaiting more news.
Thanks for sharing your experiences thus far. I smiled as I read, and I'm continuing to pray.
